Inanimate. Animate. Animating the inanimate. A duet. This development looks at the relationship between body and object. What happens when the object is not something merely at the disposal of the dancer’s artistic vision, but is an entity in itself with which the dancer must respectfully learn to interact? What energy does it innately hold? Can it be an equal or greater presence in the space to the moving body? Is it only through the interaction of body and sculpture that the sculpture’s presence, energy and even personality can be understood? Or does the object hold this on its own? And how does the relationship change with the deterioration of either one?
