ABOUT

Hadassah Wallis Headshot 1.jpg

Hadassah is an emerging artist based on the lands of the Wurundjeri and Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, Melbourne, with a passion for making tangible, that which is ineffable, through the modality of movement.

Her recent choreographic works have explored themes such as grief – both individual and corporate, society’s praise of “busy," and questions surrounding utopia. She is also interested in the intersection of her love for design, and dance, specifically in the relationship between the moving body and that which is inanimate (sculpture).

Over the past years she has worked closely with children, youth and young adults in a number of not-for-profit creative arts organisations, whose aims lie in creating communities and transforming lives through the arts. Her work in these realms has been performed both locally in events such as the Melbourne Fringe Festival, and internationally.

Hadassah envisions a world where healing can be achieved through the art form of dance. Be it through her own choreography or creating space for people’s inner worlds to be expressed through movement, she can see potential for many to access freedom through this modality.
